However, as of late 2025, this is explicitly illegal in Connecticut. Governor Ned Lamont signed Senate Bill 1235 (Public Act 25-112) into law in June 2025, which specifically outlawed "online sweepstakes games" utilizing this dual-currency model to simulate gambling. The law established strict criminal penalties for operators and facilitators of these sweepstakes.
